About the UH HUB Program
The Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) Program at the University of Houston (UH) promotes the inclusion of HUB vendors in university procurements. The HUB Program ensures compliance with state HUB laws, assists UH departments in locating HUB vendors, and offers HUBs assistance to facilitate access and contracting opportunities.
What is HUB?
A Historically Underutilized Business (HUB) is a for-profit entity that has not exceeded the size standards prescribed by 34 TAC §20.23, has its principal place of business in Texas, AND is at least 51% owned by an Asian Pacific American, African American, Hispanic American, Native American, American women and/or Service Disabled Veteran, who resides in Texas and actively participates in the control, operations, and management of the entity’s affairs.
HUB Certification Process
You must complete a HUB application through the Comptroller’s Office to determine whether your entity qualifies as a HUB. Those who qualify will be listed in the Comptroller’s online HUB directory. HUB certification is free and valid for four years when obtained directly from the Comptroller’s Office. Vendors may also receive state HUB certification through a local government or nonprofit organization, though these certifications may need to be renewed more often. Click here.
